Delbert Pugmire - Class of 1942

Delbert E. Pugmire, 75, passed away Tuesday, March 9,1999 at the Veteran's Hospital in Salt Lake City after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born January 9, 1924 in Montpelier to Raymond David and Dettie Lorenia Bridges Pugmire, the fourth of seven children.  He attended schools in Montpelier and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1942.  He entered the US Army on July 6, 1943 where he was a technician fourth grade and was a special diet cook at the 71st STA Hospital in the Fiji Islands.  He was also in Okinawa, Guam, Guadalcanal, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Japan and South Korea.  He received an honorable discharge on January 26, 1946 at Fort Lewis Washington.  On June 16, 1946 he married Beryl Carlsen at the Carlsen Ranch in Sharon.  They had three children.  He was a member of the LDS Church.  He owned and operated restaurants all his life.  His hobbies included bowling, golf, fishing, snowmobiling, flying and dancing.  Funeral services were held March 12 at 1pm.  Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
