Betty Nield (Thurber) - Class of 1950

Betty Ruth (Nield) Thurber, passed away at her residence on March 2, 2012, in Veradale, WA. She was born in Montpelier, ID on Jan 5, 1932 to La Var Broadbent Nield and Rhena Emily Wilkes. Betty grew up in Montpelier, ID and moved to the Spokane Valley with her family in 1963. 

In spite of the fact that Betty suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since the age of 9, she loved life and lived by the motto: "party, party, party, food, food, food, fun, fun, fun,!" Her positive outlook on life and cheery disposition made her an inspiration to all. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Betty often set aside her own pain and devoted her life to serving her family and others.

Betty is survived by her seven children: MaryAnn Ball of Boise, Paul Thurber of Caldwell, Deena Jordan of Boise, Delaun Thurber of Meridian, Christine Dietzel of Spokane, Myron Thurber of Spokane and Benjamin Thurber of Fayetteville, Arkansas; 38 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren; her sister Mary Lue Bunn of Montpeliar and two brothers Darrel Nield and John Nield of Spanish Fork, UT.

BELL TOWER FUNERAL HOME OF POST FALLS will be handling the funeral arrangements. Her service will be held Thursday at 11:00, March 8, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building located at 13608 E. 40th Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA (across from the LDS Temple). Interment will be at Saltese Cemetery at 3:00 p.m
