LaNette Nield (Roberts) - Class of 1954

MONTPELIER - LaNette Nield Roberts 74, passed away suddenly in the comfort of her home in Montpelier, Idaho, on June 15, 2010. She was born October 27, 1935, in Montpelier, Idaho, to William E. Nield and Viola Laughter Nield. LaNette was the fifth born of 10 children. She graduated from Montpelier High School.

She married her sweetheart, Merl Roberts, on October 8, 1954, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.

She has worked with various businesses in the local community, including Kings, Walton Feed, and the Bear Lake School District. Her true love and passion was being a wife and mother.

LaNette was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as the stake Primary secretary, Relief Society secretary, stake missionary, genealogy specialist, she was a valiant visiting teacher, and was serving as the Fifth Ward librarian. For over seven years, she was blessed to serve as a temple officiator with her husband at the Logan Temple.

She spent her time enjoying the company of her family and especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

LaNette is survived by three children, Marsha (Robert) Ward, Kelly (Karen) Roberts, and Rick (RaNae) Roberts; 20 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth (Elva) Nield and Tom (Karen) Nield; and four sisters, Gloria Shannon, Carol Erickson, Belva (Alan) Bagley, and Maxine (Chris) Henderson; and other close sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is preceded in death by her husband, Merl Roberts, her grandson, Brandon Ward, her three great-grandsons, Jaxon, Carter and Noah, three brothers, Max, Carl, and Terry Nield, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Montpelier Fifth Ward LDS Chapel.
