Dixie Louann Peterson (Hastings) - Class of 1960 VIEW PROFILE

Dixie Lou Ann Peterson Hastings, 80, passed away Sunday October 2, 2022, at her daughter Lisa's home surrounded by her children and some of her grandchildren.

Dixie was born January 11, 1942, in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Milford Henry Peterson and Mary Christina Bird Peterson.

She grew up in Dingle, Idaho and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1960.

On September 2, 1960, she married George Richard Hastings in Dingle, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized on September 15, 2018 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

Before moving to Blackfoot in 1970 Dixie cleaned house in Montpelier, Idaho. In 1973 she went to work for Nonpareil Potato Plant. She worked there for 21 years. In 1994 she started working for Blackfoot School District 55 as a custodian in Mountain View Middle School. She enjoyed this job and grew to love several of the employees there.

On December 31, 2006, she had to take an early retirement due to being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Along with her RA she found out she was in heart failure in April of 2022 due to having COVID, which took her from her family too early.

Dixie was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to read, listen to her scriptures, listen to, and sing all the hymn songs.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and playing the game Aggravation in her spare time. She made quilts for her children and grandchildren. She especially loved to spend time with her siblings, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Dixie is survived by her children Michael Hastings of Blackfoot, Donna (Bob) Barnes of Rexburg, Lisa (Mike) Goodwin of Blackfoot, Debra Stuart of Blackfoot, Teresa Lee of Shelley, and Charlene Grasser of Pocatello; 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren with 3 on the way; sisters Carol Beers of Sandy, Utah, Betty Peterson of Pocatello, brother Robert (Pam) Peterson of Smithfield, Utah; sisters-in-law Bonnie (Mike) Bates of Firth, and Terry Hastings of Basalt; brother-in-law Gary (Linda) Hastings of Magna, Utah.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, son John Hastings, daughter Annette Falter, her parents, her in-laws, her stillborn brother, half-brother Everett Peterson, sisters-in-law Gloria McGregor, Pat Peterson, brothers-in-law Jim Beers, James Hastings.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Blackfoot Stake Center. The family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Hawker Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
