Rebecca June Parker (Martineau) - Class of 1931

Rebecca June Parker Martineau, 80, of Pocatello, passed away Apnl 26, 1996 in Pocatello. She was born May 25, 1915 in Bennington, a daughter of Jared Parker and Manon Zeruiah Lindsay Parker. She lived in Bennington, and graduated [from high school] at the age of 16. She graduated from Utah State University. Rebecca married James Gaston Martineau, June 23,1947 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She taught English and literature at Mink Creek, Lava Hot Spnngs, Irving Jr. High, Pocatello High and Highland High Schools he was an active member of the Church of Jesus Chnst of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the Relief Society and Primary organizations, and the Singing Mothers. She enjoyed music, and was the organist for the Pocatello First Ward choir where she met her husband. She was the Fifth Ward organist for many years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her scouting interest led all four sons to becoming Eagle Scouts. She enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and her church. She was a faithful temple patron. She is survived by her sons, James and Kay Anderson Martineau, Huber Heights, Oh.; Joel and Carolyn Downey Martineau, Grants, N.M.; Jerrold and Wanda Jensen Martineau, Pocatello; one sister, Marion Virginia Parker George, Bennington; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and son-in-law, Michael Puckett, Hastings, Mn. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, John R Martineau; daughter, Pamela Jane Martineau Puckett; her parents; brother, J. Ross Parker; and sister, Bertha Lindsay Parker Boehme. Funeral services were held Apnl 29, at the LDS Fifth Ward chapel in Pocatello with Bishop Leo Miller officiating. Interment was in the Bennington Cemetery.
