I, Calvert Lewis, of the class of 1931 have lived most of my life in Bear Lake. After graduation I worked at different jobs, mostly farm jobs with livestock, etc. In 1934 Agnes King and I were in a serious auto accident. We were married the next summer, Jun. 1, 1935. We lived in Dingle; Montpelier; Bremerton, Washington; and Ogden, Utah. We later moved back to Dingle where we made our home after World War II. There I have made my home since, and have engaged in farming, stock raising, and have done plumbing, pipe fitting, and troubleshooting as e trade.
We (my first wife and I) were the parents of six children, three boys and three girls. One son, Blake, was killed in a tractor accident in 1960. The living children are:
Claudia (Mrs. Dean Wigington, Montpelier)
Max (Personnel Specialist for the Forest Service, Vernal, Utah)
Carolyn (Mrs. Leon Larsen, Dingle)
Lynn (not married and living at home)
Cathrine (Mrs. Howard Pope, Montpelier)
We have at present 7 grandsons and 4 granddaughters. My two living sons filled missions for their church, Max in New Zealand and Lynn in the Cumorah Mission in New York State.
One of the interesting events of my life was the building of the Dingle chapel while I was a member of the Bishopric from 1941 through 1959.
In December, 1969, my wife passed away, and I spent a little over three and one half years as a single man looking over the good looking ladies in the area, including Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. On June 3rd of this year Mrs. Agnes Pope Hanks of Roosevelt, Utah consented to become my wife and we were married on July 20th of this year. I am probably the most recently married of the class of 1931. This marriage added three sons, two daughters, and one daughter-in-law to the family.
