Joyce Ludene Hooker Whitaker was born May 9, 1931 in Ontario, Oregon the daughter of Myrl Howell and Elizabeth Burton Hooker. She was raised in Montpelier, Idaho and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1949. Joyce subsequently graduated from Utah State University in education.  She married Earl Keith Whitaker June 19, 1953.  They had four children, Elizabeth Ann, Bradford Keith, Craig Myrl and Cherie Darleen.  She taught school for 18 years in Montpelier and Nampa, ID.  When her husband passed away July 27, 1970, she moved to Logan, UT.  She was a fervent believer in the positive influence of music and art. She proudly enjoyed watching her children’s personal growth and artistic success.  She was a faithful member of the LDS Church until the time of her death on February 18, 1996 at her home in Providence, Utah. Burial was in the Providence Utah Cemetery.
