Marcelline Christman (Dunn) - Class of 1926

Idaho State Journal, 10/17/04

NORTHFIELD, Ill. - Marcy Dunn passed away peacefully at the Maryhaven Nursing Home in Glenview, Ill., on Sept. 23, 2004, with her loving daughter, Marsha, at her bedside. She was 96. Marcy was born Marcelline Christman on Aug. 17, 1908, in Marion, Ohio. She was the oldest of three daughters born to Webster and Hallie Christman. She spent her childhood and early adult life in Montpelier, Idaho, where she graduated from Montpelier High School. It was during this time she met and married Lewis Brady Dunn on Dec. 20, 1929, in Pocatello, Idaho.

Most of her married life was spent in Pocatello, where their two children, Charles and Marsha, were born. Her years in Pocatello were filled with the activities of a devoted wife and mother. She was a bookkeeper for the American Red Cross for 11 years and also worked at Pocatello High School as the attendance secretary. Marcy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she gave many years of service in genealogical work at the Family History Center in Pocatello.

Her husband, Lewis, worked in education as a teacher and also served as principal of four different grade schools, the last of which was Greenacres in Pocatello. They loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. Their favorite trips were to Chicago to visit their daughter, Marsha, son-in-law, Hassan Najafi, and our grandchildren, Kevin, Susan, Melinda and Christopher.

In 1996 Marcy moved to Northfield, Ill., to be close to her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha; son-in-law, Dr. Hassan Najafi; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She passed away two weeks before the birth of her eighth great-grandchild.

Marcy was preceded in death by her son, Charles, who died in 1935 at age one; parents, Webster and Hallie Christman; and husband, Lewis B. Dunn.

A private family service was held in her daughter's home in Northfield, Ill.
