Ethel Kunz (Johnson) - Class of 1932

Montpelier, Idaho – Ethel Ella Kunz Johnson, 88, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at the Bear Lake Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier. She was born Aug. 12, 1914, in Bern, Idaho, to David J. and Emma Caroline Kunz. She was raised on their farm in Bern and attended school in Bern and high school in Montpelier. She married Elwood Albert Hansen on April 19, 1932, and they had one son. She later married Thiel Johnson on Aug. 29, 1947. 

Ethel worked for the Civil Service in California and Utah and later for First Security Bank. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held several callings, mainly in Junior Sunday School and Primary. She and her husband served a mission and were temple workers in the Ogden Temple and the Los Angeles Temple.

Ethel is survived by her husband, Theil, one son Darrell (Annette) Hansen of Geneva, Idaho, three grandsons, Randy (Danette) Hansen of West Point, Utah, Rick (Sharon) Hansen and Lon (Marie) Hansen both of Hooper, Utah, one granddaughter, Jackie Hansen of Geneva, Idaho, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four step-children, Theone (Elaine) Johnson of Kuna, Idaho, Wayne Johnson of Clarkson, Washington, Sandra Kaufmann of Hyannis, Mass., and Lynn (Sylvia) Johnson of Weiser, Idaho. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 11:00 AM in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel in Montpelier. Burial will be in the Bern Cemetery.
