Nelda Taylor (Roderick) - Class of 1933

MONTPELIER - Nelda M. Taylor Roderick, 84, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

She was born May 20, 1915 in Montpelier, Idaho to John E. and Genevieve Shupe Taylor. She was the second of six children. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1933. Nelda was a member of the LDS Church. She had served in many positions, but her favorite was singing in the tabernacle choir in Montpelier.

She was employed at the Burgoyne Pharmacy and the Lowe Drug Store for many years.

She married David H. Roderick in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on April 3, 1934. They were married for over 50 years.

She enjoyed many years with Dave fishing, hunting and traveling. They had been to Alaska, the Caribbean, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Hawaii. Nelda's hobbies included keeping her house and yard in immaculate shape and doing craft projects. She loved cooking for her family, and was a superb conversationalist. Everyone will surely miss this spirited, energetic little lady.

Nelda is survived by two children, Judy K. Swa of Soda Springs and David W. Roderick of Farr West, Utah; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Taylor of Pocatello; three sisters, Bertha Berger of Omaha, Nebraska, Ione Hertager of San Diego, Calif., Beverly Rupp of Pen Valley, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Mary, and her mother and father.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Montpelier Second Ward LDS Chapel at 585 North Eighth St. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary
