Nola Ipsen (Jones) - Class of 1949

Nola Florence Ipsen Jones, 93, died November 22, 2024 of natural causes at her home in Montpelier, Idaho.

Born June 14, 1931, in Bennington, Idaho, Nola led a life full of accomplishment where she spread love and goodwill among family, friends and strangers everywhere she went.

She was beloved by her family members who she loved and served unselfishly throughout her life. That service remarkably included supporting her son on a two year church mission who departed the same month she lost her husband, Rex, to a heart attack and donating a kidney to her daughter, Marsha, when her's were destroyed by a catastrophic and rare disease.

An avid golfer, she played for fun and in tournaments for decades and was a regular fixture at the Montpelier municipal golf course.

Nola worked for San Francisco Chemical Company, Montpelier, ID; Utex Mining Company, Moab, UT; City of Moab UT; Western Savings and Loan, Salt Lake City, UT; as a Legal Secretary, Montpelier, ID; as co-owner of JoVeno's clothing store, Montpelier, ID; as an Idaho Real Estate Broker; Deputy Auditor, Bear Lake County; Deputy Treasurer and Treasurer, Bear Lake County, combining 19 years of continuous government service before her retirement.

She attended Bennington Elementary and Montpelier High School where she was an honors graduate in the class of 1949 and LDS Business College. She also attended Utah State University for her Real Estate License and graduated from the Realtor's Institute, Boise, as a four-year graduate as well as numerous professional courses in Pocatello, Boise and Idaho Falls.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rex Leo Jones; parents Martin Lloyd Ipsen and Grace Ann Nebeker Ipsen; brothers Gordon Ipsen, Deward Ipsen; and son in law Kory Koeven.

Nola is survived by her sister Caroyln House; son Chris Lloyd Jones; daughter Marsha JoAnn Jones Koeven; four granddaughters; fourteen great grandchildren (including a name-sake Nola); and one great great grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 29 at Schwab Matthews Mortuary from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Services will be held at the Montpelier 4th ward LDS chapel Saturday November 30 at 10:30 AM preceded by a viewing there at 9:30 AM.
