In Memory

Joyce Price (Jewell) - Class of 1948

Joyce Price Jewell passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family due to complications from cancer on October 2, 2014 at the age of 84. Joyce was born in Rigby, Idaho on September 16, 1930 to Lamar and Theo Price. The Price family moved to Montpelier, Idaho her Senior year of high school where she met her sweetheart “Bill" Jewell. Joyce graduated from Montpelier High School in 1948 and married J William Jewell on July 28, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

After spending some years in Alaska and Louisiana, where Bill was stationed in the Air Force, as well as a few years in California working for the City of Los Angeles, Bill and Joyce eventually settled in Montpelier, Idaho to raise their family. Joyce enjoyed being a homemaker, working as the bookkeeper for the family motel business and was a partner in a clothing business in Montpelier. She was active in the community, serving on the board for the Bear Lake Health Care Foundation, being involved in the Boy Scout Program and graciously accepted many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She also continued her education later in life and graduated with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Brigham Young University in 1998.

Following the death of her sweetheart, Joyce moved to Nibley, Utah. She enjoyed her time making new friends in her senior community neighborhood and could be seen many afternoons walking her little dog and visiting her neighbors. She exemplified kindness and charity to all around her. She truly was a gracious lady.
Joyce is survived by her sisters Karen (Geoff) Watts, Diane Bateman, her brother Brent Price (Joyce), sons Gregory Jewell (Darlene), Stephen Jewell (Jan), Douglas Jewell (Tonya) and daughter Janet Lee (Rick). She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister (Jean Gash), grandson (David Jewell), and great-granddaughters (Alexis Miller & Sophie Jewell).

We will miss her but are happy that she has been reunited with her cherished companion.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 in the Nibley 10th Ward Chapel (2800 South 1000 West). A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral. A graveside service will be held at the Montpelier, Idaho Cemetery that afternoon at 4:00 PM. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries.net
