Dick Rowland - Class of 1938

MONTPELIER, Idaho — Robert (Dick) R. Rowland, 89, passed away on October 14, 2009, at Aurora Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Dick was born on January 3, 1920, to Fredric Thomas and Hannah Pitcher Rowland.

After graduating from Montpelier High School he joined the Army Air Corp and was a pilot of a B17 in World War II. After filling all his missions in Europe, he was stationed in Galveston, Texas, to train new pilots. When he was discharged from the army, he came back to Montpelier, and married Ruby Bischoff and went into the laundry and dry cleaning business with his father and brothers. After selling the family business, he worked at Becker Industries until he retired.

Dick is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Ann (Bob) Lutz of Montpelier, and Casa Grande, Ariz., and Chris Rowland of Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and 2 greatgreat-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at 1 p.m. at the Montpelier LDS 5th ward chapel. Interment will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
