Janice Jensen (Stevens) - Class of 1939

Janice Stevens passed away peacefully on January 6, 2007 at her home at age 85. She was born May 31, 1921 in Montpelier, Idaho to Alfred and Olive Jensen. She graduated with honors from Montpelier High. Married Wilson E. Stevens Dec. 5, 1939 in the Logan Temple. Moved to Salt Lake in 1940. Janice always put family and others first. Having a sick father, as the oldest of seven children, she helped raise her younger siblings during the Depression. Later she served others in the PTA and held many callings in Primary and Relief Society. She was also active in the DUP. Janice and Wilson served as missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois in 1982-1983. This mission was the highlight of her life and she made many friends there. A gifted homemaker, she enjoyed camping in her trailer and traveling. She always enjoyed family get-togethers, birthdays, and Christmas. She could truly be called "The salt of the earth." Survived by her husband Wilson, son Jim (Debbie) of Kaysville, sister Doreen Rogers, and brother, Fay Jensen. 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mike, two grandsons, and her parents. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 12:00 noon in the Starcrest Ward Chapel (874 North Starcrest Drive). Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
