Jean Lindsay (Rich) - Class of 1943

Obituaries-Immogene (Jean) Lindsay Rich passed away Saturday, June 5, 2004, after suffering a stroke. She was born the last of eight children, Sept. 21, 1925, to Hyrum Lester Lindsay and Vara (Vera) Mouritsen in Bennington, Idaho. She attended grade school in Bennington and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1943.

Jean served in the Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society organizations of her church and as a full-time and stake missionary. She met Lavell Mecham Rich while serving as a missionary in the Central Atlantic States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After completing their full-time missionary service, they were sealed for time and eternity, Sept. 21, 1950, in the Logan Temple. She enjoyed gardening, needle work and decorating wedding cakes. 

Jean is survived by her husband, Lavell Mecham Rich; son, Lester Lavell (LaRae) Rich of Clearfield, Utah; daughter, Ardeana (Brian) Hansen of Hansen, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Margy Rich (Lee) Chestnut of Lindon, Utah; son, Boyd Lindsay (Beverly) Rich of Nampa; 18 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Wayne Rich; granddaughter, Amy Hansen; her parents; brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for their help and care of mom during her last days.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, June 8, at the Bitteroot Ward, 1111 S. Cole Road. Interment will be at the Meridian Cemetery on Franklin Road in Meridian. Arrangements are under the direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel.
