John Barrett - Class of 1944

John Thomas Barrett 1926 ~ 2008 Loving and loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully Feb. 8, 2008. He enjoyed a long, full and honorable life. John ("J. T.") was born in Montpelier, Idaho, June 17, 1926 to John W. and Bernice E. Barrett. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Corps, and then graduated with a B.S. degree in Marketing from the University of Utah where he was affiliated with Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He married Connie Laura Christensen Nov. 22, 1950 with whom he had three sons: John Thomas, II, Jeffrey Richard, and, James Christopher. His career spanned 50 years in the banking, finance and mortgage industries. J. T. is survived by his wife; sons John (grandchildren Ian, Ashley, Lauren), Salt Lake City; Jeffrey (Mijin; grandsons Nathan and Jeremy), North Tustin, California; "Chris" (Lupe), Orange, California; niece Kathleen (Rex) Dayton, Evanston, Wyoming; niece Lynne (Art) Lee, Calistoga, California; brother-in-law, Harold (Jacquita) Christensen, Salt Lake City; and, sister-in-law, Helen Olpin, Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Marjean Michaelson. A private family celebration will be held after cremation.
