Katherine Widmer (Newman) - Class of 1944

OGDEN - Katherine Newman, 78, died Sunday, November 30, 2003 at her home of causes incident to age. he was born April 27, 1925 in Geneva, Idaho, a daughter of John Rudolph and Annie Mary Wenger Widmer. On August 28, 1946, Katherine married DeVoo Newman in Ogden.

She was reared and educated in Montpelier, Idaho, graduating from Montpelier High School. She had lived in Ogden since 1945.

Katherine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints.

She worked at Defense Depot Ogden and was a cashier at Gibson's Discount Store. Katherine enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening and most of all, spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband of Ogden; one grandson, Randy (Tricia) Thompson, Pleasant View; and four great-grandchildren, Alex, Preston, Connor and Jonah Thompson. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, David (Vilate) Widmer, Ogden; and Erma Hymas, Paris, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, DeeAnn Thompson, two brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
