In Memory

Colleen Davis (Montgomery) - Class of 1944

The Idaho Statesman, 10/04/08

Colleen Montgomery was welcomed in Dingle, Bear Lake, Idaho on Sept. 12, 1925 in the home of Edna and Nelson Davis. The youngest of seven, she grew up around the farm as horses and carriages were replaced by cars and the state succumbed to the Great Depression. Her family moved to Boise where during WWII, Claude Montgomery began courting Colleen when he was on leave from the navy. Soon they were engaged and married on June 30, 1946. Four children blessed their home, Michael, Wayne, Claudia, and Gina. Colleen worked hard to care for them and loved her family very much. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colleen enjoyed the camaraderie by going to Sunday services. She liked football season and cheered on the BSU Broncos every game. She loved talking about her family, especially her great-grandkids. Everybody who met Colleen instantly became her friend and she will be sorely missed. Even in her 80's, she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody in need. Colleen was preceded in death by her siblings and her beloved husband. She is survived by her children, and their spouses, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. It's been 34 years since she has seen Claude. We can only imagine the happy reunion. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at the Cherry Lane LDS Chapel, 3020 W. Cherry Ln., Boise. Interment will follow the services at Cloverdale Cemetery.
