With sadness in our hearts, yet gratitude for his love and example, we as a family acknowledge the death of our father, Harvey C. Hirschi, on Saturday, May 19, 2007 and pay tribute to a life well lived. Harvey was born in Geneva, Idaho, the place he always called home, on February 15, 1927 to Christian and May Widmer Hirschi. He cherished the people and memories of Star Valley. Dad was blessed and supported by a dear eternal companion, Lois Remington Hirschi. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Jan. 29, 1947. A love for his country and a strong sense of duty to protect and make her stronger, led our father to service in the Army, Coast Guard, and the Navy in World War II. He became a Colonel in the Air Force serving with the SkyWriters Team until retirement. 

Harvey graduated from the University of Utah with his PhD in Administration. An acquisition for knowledge and a desire for service dominated his life. His home was blessed with good friends and loved ones through his work and dedicated service with NAMI, the Inner City Mission, and membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man he served in the Southern States Mission and continued his service in his church with various missions and callings including Bishop and at the time of his passing, Patriarch of the Sandy Utah East Stake. 

He will be missed by his wife, Lois; children, Stephen (Marleen) Hirschi, Sharon (Craig) Gailey, and John (and fiance Sherilyn) Hirschi. Also, sisters, Goldie (Alan) Van Dyke of Bountiful, UT, and Joyce (Karl) Anderson of Cleveland, OH; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children and many nieces and nephews. Sweet words to his ears were "grandpa" and "Uncle Harvey." Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Buttercup Ward, 1600 E. 10001 South, Sandy. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
