Ken Price - Class of 1947

MONTPELIER — Kenneth M. Price, 73, passed away at his home in Montpelier on Friday,January 25, 2002, from cancer.

He was born in Geneva, Idaho, on Aug. 4, 1928, to Thomas Albert and Velma Walker Price. He spent his younger days in Geneva going to school and living on the family farm. He enjoyed farming and spending time with the animals.

He married Nona Wright in 1950. From this union one daughter, Merlyn Kay, was born. Nona died two years later. He then married Virginia Kunz in June 1952. They had four children, Kirt Dee, Carson Kenneth, ReNee Ann and Hal Mark.

Kenneth worked in the phosphate industry early in his life, working at Leefe, Hot Springs, and Georgetown. After that, he went into business for himself with a construction company, later building his business bigger by adding a concrete operation. He eventually sold that and went to work for Skyline Construction and RS Bennett Construction, working the oil fields and all operations of the oil industry. Retiring from the oil fields, he returned to the love of working on the farm. He enjoyed the outdoors and was always going hunting, fishing, camping and ice fishing in the winter.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Virginia of Montpelier; four children, Merlyn Kay Sorensen of Pocatello, Kirt Dee Price and Carson (Jan) Price, both of Montpelier; ReNee (Alex) Jensen of Logan, Utah; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Hal.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, at 12 noon in he Montpelier Fourth Ward Chapel. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier.
