William Robinson - Class of 1955

William Joseph Robinson, 76, of Green River died March 29, 2012 at his home in Green River. He was born Feb. 6, 1936 in Montpelier, the son of Herschel and Thelma Moore Robinson. He attended schools in Montpelier. He married Gail Alley Oct. 14, 1957 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

He had been employed for Allied Chemical until his retirement in 1998 after 30 years.

He was a veteran having served in the US Army in Germany with the 54th Engineer Battalion.

Bill was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Green River. He was also a member of the Oregon California Trails Association, the Historical Society, and Golden Hour Senior Center. He served on the board for the Mansface Terrace Housing.

His interests were digging up old bottles, being involved with the OCTA and Cherokee Trail, geocaching, bowling, leather working, arrowhead hunting and socializing at Smith’s.

Survivors included his wife, Gail Robinson, of Green River; son, Joseph William Robinson and wife, Denise of Lyman; daughter, Judi Lynn Robinson Laughter and husband, Randy of Green River; sister, Barbara Robinson Frans and husband, Carl of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Theron William Robinson of Charlotte, North Carolina, Desiree Ralph Woodworth of Raeford, North Carolina, Monique Elizabeth Robinson of Lyman, Derek Louis Robinson of Lyman; great-grandchildren, Alystical Lynn Woodworth and Emilyn Rose Woodworth both of Raeford; several cousins and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, Kathleen Joy Frans, and one infant baby brother.

Cremation has taken place at Fox Crematory, Rock Springs.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. on April 9 at the Union Congregational Church, 350 Mansface St., Green River.
