Nancy Adams (Wilkes) - Class of 1956

PRESTON — Nancy LaVon Adams Wilkes, 64, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at the Franklin County Nursing Home in Preston. She was born Dec. 2, 1937, in Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Vincent DeMaine and Edith Shirley Hayes Adams. 

She married Dennis Leon Wilkes on Sept. 24, 1954, in Grace, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden, Utah temple. 

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Primary teacher, visiting teacher, and Relief Society secretary. She enjoyed singing and reading. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, serving as county president. She was an Avon representative, and she did volunteer work at the Preston schools. 

She is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Preston; two daughters and one son, Susan Pacheco, Mesquite, Nevada, Linda (Scott) Hampton, Franklin, Idaho, Kevin D. (Melinda) Wilkes, Preston; eight grandchildren; and three sisters, Thelma (Pete) Kinyon, Redmond, Oregon, Cecelia Gittens, Great Falls, Montana, and Alapha (Bob) House, Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her parents-in-law, two sisters, Shirley Thornock and Doris Bauman, three brothers, William, Vincent (Jack), and Dennis L. Adams, and by a brother-in-law, Harvey Gittens. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at noon in the Preston Eighth Ward Chapel, 213 S. 200 E., with Bishop Kevin Sharp conducting. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
