Evan Sorenson - Class of 1957

GEORGETOWN — Evan Paul Sorenson, 62, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho following a long illness.

He was born Dec. 31, 1938, in Montpelier, Bear Lake, Idaho to Eldon C. and Madge Hayes Sorenson. He was raised in Conda and Georgetown, and went to Montpelier High School.

He married Linda Buhler on June 23, 1958, in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple, and they were later divorced. He married Naomi Stoker on May 31, 1968, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, and an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed the outdoors.

Evan is survived by his wife, Naomi, of Georgetown; three sons, Perry and Christy Dobby of Hansen, Idaho, Terry and Heather Sorenson of Orem, Utah, Christopher Sorenson of Georgetown; three daughters, Patricia Dobby, Cindy and Ed Boyle, both of Naperville, Ill., and Annette and Bill Adams of Idaho Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren; his father, Eldon Sorenson of Montpelier; two brothers, Warren Sorenson of Georgetown, and Kent Sorenson of Grantsville, Utah; and one sister, Anna Rae Campbell of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Patricia Kay.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 30, at 1 p.m. in the Georgetown LDS Chapel. Burial will be in the Georgetown Idaho Cemetery, with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
