Ruth Robinson Taylor, 86, longtime Montpelier resident and former editor and publisher of the Montpelier News-Examiner, died at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2001, after a long illness at the Lander Valley Medical Center in Lander, Wyoming.

She was born May 20, 1914 in Dillon, Montanta, to Herbert and Marguerite O'Connor Robinson, and spent her childhood in Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1930. She attended the University of Oregon and University of Utah, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.

She married W. Jerome (Jerry) Taylor in Logan, Utah on July 10, 1932.

The Taylors entered into a partnership with her parents at the News-Examiner in 1937. She greatly enjoyed dealing with the public and operating the Linotype machine. The Taylors retired in 1974, and Jerry passed away on April 23, 1989 at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital. Ruth moved to Lander Wyoming in December 1993 to live near her daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Cecil Bartek.

Besides the Barteks, she was survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lance and Yvonne Taylor of Washington, Main; grandchildren Matthew and Erin Bartek; and Ian and Signe Taylor; and great granddaughter Lyla Stettenheim.

Funeral services were April 16, 2001 in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel. Interment was in the Montpleier City Cemetery.
