Richard Grunig - Class of 1959

Richard Wayne Grunig, 60, Pocatello, died Sunday, February 11, 2001, at his home in Pocatello, Idaho, following a lingering
illness.

He was born January 31, 1941, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Loraine Henry and Sophia Henerietta Young Grunig.
He attended schools in the Montpelier area.

He married Gloria Ann Lane in 1958 in Montpelier. They were divorced in 1977. He married Vickie
Rasmussen in 1980 in Pocatello. They were later divorced. In 1992, he married Randie Windsor in Idaho
Falls, Idaho. They were later divorced.

In his lifetime he owned three businesses. He also worked as a welder, real estate agent and salesperson.
He was a hard worker and was never without a job, even during his illnesses.

Richard was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a high priest in
the Fourth Ward of the East Pocatello Stake. He was currently serving as a single adult representative.

Richard faced many challenges in his life, beginning with the death of his mother when he was 4 years old.
He was raised by his father along with his siblings in very humble circumstances. In 1979, he turned over
his life to the Lord. Richard was a deeply spiritual man who loved his family and the Savior with all his heart.
Even though he suffered many afflictions, he took pride in maintaining his physical stamina by walking
diligently four miles a day.

Richard is survived by the following children, Brian Wayne (Angela) Grunig, Pocatello, Sally Ann (Gary)
Tarbet, Pocatello, Amy Dawn (Allen) Humpherys, Pocatello, Stephen Grunig, Pocatello, Shawn Grunig,
Idaho Falls, Idaho; two step-children, Sheila (Eric) Parkinson, Pocatello, James (Penny) Rasmussen,
Pocatello; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Robert (Thelda) Grunig, Montpelier, Frank
(Beverly) Grunig, Bountiful, Utah, Glenn (Judy) Grunig, Montpelier; and one sister, Barbara (Farrell) Arnell,
Montpelier. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold Grunig, two sisters, Janice Grunig and Marial Wuthrich.

Funeral services were conducted February 15, 2001, in the LDS Fourth Ward Chapel, 135 South Seventh Ave., Pocatello, with Bishop Robert Bradley conducting. Interment was in the Montpelier Cemetery, Montpelier, Idaho.
