Gordon Sparks - Class of 1944

Gordon Sparks, 88, passed away on August 27, 2013 in Pocatello at Pocatello Care & Rehab with family by his side. Gordon was born April 14, 1925 in Dingle, Idaho. He lived in Montpelier and then moved to Pocatello where he spent the rest of his life. He graduated from Montpelier High school. He then joined the Army Air Corp in 1945.

Gordon married Joan Henning in the Logan Temple in 1949. He worked in farming and ranching as he grew up. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and retired in 1985.

Gordon was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, watching sports, and spending time with his family.

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Christine Sparks, Caryn (Fred) Sistrunk, and Lucille Sparks, sons, Michael (Cindy) Sparks and Richard Sparks, brother, Daryl (Betty) Sparks, sister, Marilyn (Paul) Flanary, 8 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Sparks, parents, Cottrell and Connie Sparks, sister, Jean Payne, and grandson, Jared Sparks.

Funeral services were held August 31, 2013 at the Colonial Funeral Home (2005 S. 4th Ave.) Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery, Pocatello Idaho.
