In Memory

Delilah Nelson (Hodges) - Class of 1939

Our beloved mother Delilah N. Hodges returned peacefully to her father in Heaven on Sept. 20, 2012, at her daughter Barbara's home in Grantsville. She was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Nels and Katrina Nelson. She graduated from Montpelier High School and attended and graduated from Excellsious Beauty School in Los Angeles. She married Paul N. Hodges, and they were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple.

She had a strong faith and loved her religion. Delilah loved to socialize and acquired a variety of friends young and old. She never knew a stranger. When she was younger and able, she loved to travel and was always up for an adventure.

She traveled by bus to California and Oregon to see nieces and nephews, then across the country to West Virginia to see her daughter Patty, then Texas to see her sons Paul and Bruce. She went several times to Ohio, Illinois, California and Oregon to visit her daughter Barbara and her nieces and nephews. She also had the opportunity to see Hawaii.

Delilah had a great attitude, even when she was unable to totally care for herself, and a beautiful, angelic smile that will live in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be missed.

Her husband, 12 siblings and one son preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, Paul Hodges (Loni), Patty Winans and Barbara Miles-Rawlings (Rondo); five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 25, 2012 at the LDS church at 1255 N. 600 East in Logan, Utah. Interment was in Garden City, Utah.
