In Memory

Virgil Boehme - Class of 1952

Virgil Blaine Boehme, 91, of Geneva, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 1, 2025.  He was born November 1, 1933, to Fred and Etta Mae Boehme at the family residence in Geneva.  He was the youngest of 9 children.  He lived his entire life on the family ranch which he dearly loved.  His days were spent riding horses, milking and chasing cows, and hunting in the mountains.  He graduated from Montpelier High School and drove the school bus during his high school years.  He married Florence Veloy McGavin September 2, 1955, in the Idaho Falls Temple.  They raised 3 children, Debra Hall (Kevin), Scott (Raquel), and Gene (Patsy).  Veloy passed away on June 19, 2014, after 58 years of marriage.

Virgil was a hard worker throughout his life.  He had a dairy farm with his brother Russell and later ranched with his son, Gene and grandsons. He had a love for draft horses and was an avid BYU sports fan.  He made friends easily and would often stop to visit someone he knew wherever he went.

Virgil married Lois Barkdull on December 12, 2016.  They enjoyed their companionship, spending time with family, and 4-wheeler rides around the valley.

Virgil was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He held various callings, including bishop, high councilor, and temple ordinance worker.  Virgil and Veloy enjoyed serving in the Logan Temple for 12 years and formed many eternal friendships during that time.  He served as president on several boards, including the fair board and irrigation company.  He was Grand Marshall of the Bear Lake County Fair in 2017.

Virgil enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.  He enjoyed camping with family, cookouts, riding around the valley, and sharing laughter and stories.

Family was the most important part of his life.  Virgil has 15 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.  Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, 8 siblings, a grandson-in-law, Tyler Chad Keetch, a granddaughter, Patsy Lee Boehme and a great granddaughter, Kate Cheree Hall.

Services will be held at the Geneva Ward Chapel on Saturday, June 7, 2025.  The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon with a viewing prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:45. Interment will be at the Geneva Cemetery.

Virgil leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness, and commitment to God and family.  He will be deeply missed.
