In Memory

Jackie Hanson (Anderson) - Class of 1952

LAYTON – Our dearest wife, mother, grandmother and “GG” passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 20, 2013, with her loving husband and family by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Jackie was born in Montpelier, Idaho on October, 24, 1934, the cherished and only child to Reed and Maxine Settle Hanson. She grew up in Idaho and graduated from Wendell High School. She went on to graduate from Saint Benedict’s School of Nursing in Ogden, Utah in 1955 with her Registered Nursing degree. While attending Saint Ben’s, she met the love of her life, Charles “Bud” Anderson where he worked as an orderly after serving in the Korean War. They were married in Evanston, Wyoming on September 23, 1955.

Jackie and Bud made their home in Layton, Utah where Jackie worked as a Registered Nurse for Noel Z. Tanner, M.D. at Tanner Memorial Clinic for many years. Her patient’s and co-workers loved her. She also worked at the Hill Air Force Base Hospital and Davis North Medical Center. After “retiring”, she went on to work for Rocky Mountain Care Center and the IRS in Ogden as the infirmary nurse. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. But, being a grandmother and great grandmother was her happiest accomplishment. She was the best grandma and “GG” ever and loved all of her grandchildren dearly.

Jackie is survived by her loving and caring husband and children: Jacqueline Anderson, Marci Hernandez, Reed Anderson, Randy Anderson, Ryan (Debbie) Anderson. She leaves 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, many cousins and her best friend and “sister”, Jan Stark. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A special thanks to Debbie, Aubrey, Lisa, Heather and Kevin of Hospice for Utah and Keila of Essential Care for their love and tender care.

A brief memorial service will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, UT.

Mary Kay Holmes (Poulsen) (1952)

Jackie and I have been pals since childhood.  She loved her dogs and I will never forget the Dog Birthday Party on the lawn of the court house in Montpelier.  She lived for awhile across the street from me and then she moved to Wendell, Idaho.  We gave her a going away party at the "Bird Farm"  up the canyon, it was an over night party.  Dr and Mrs Reed Rich were our chaperones they checked in on us and all went well till they tasted our "Apple Cider" and they looked at each other and smiled.  It was not long before the barrell dissapeared and the boys also.  Not sure what happened to the barrell or boys after that.  I will miss Jackie and give  the family my love.  Mary Kay
