In Memory

Renee Dimick (Holmes) - Class of 1954

Renee Dimick Holmes was born on August 8, 1936, in Montpelier, Idaho, to Donald Alma and Anita Gay Dimick. She attended school in Montpelier, graduating from Montpelier High School in 1954. Immediately following high school, she attended Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, graduating in 1956 with her associate's degree in Nursing. She married Milford Reed Wamsley in Paris, Idaho, in 1957.

Moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, she worked at Holy Cross Hospital while Reed attended barber school. After completing Reed’s schooling, they moved to Ogden, Utah, and her nursing career continued at McKay Dee Hospital.

During her years of service at McKay Dee Hospital, she demonstrated and maintained the highest level of pride that any nurse could display, providing compassionate and honest care to countless patients. Reed and Renee’s union brought three children into this world: Shane, Paul, and Nicole. Reed and Renee later divorced.

Renee continued to reside in Ogden. In 1975, Renee married Clifford Holmes in Ogden, Utah, welcoming Clifford’s four children, Annette, Kaye, Bobe, and Joel, into her life. In 1977, Renee and Clifford built a beautiful home in Liberty, Utah, where together they engaged in farming, gardening, and hosting family and friend gatherings. She absolutely loved her various flowers, especially her peonies, irises, and lilies. All her farm animals were dear to her; all had names and were family to her. Too countless to name, but Ethel and Trilbey (the sheep) were often allowed into the house for short visits. Rosie the burro, Flower the pig, and Biggie the rooster were a few of her more memorable farm family.

She continued nursing at McKay Dee Hospital until the balance impairment and hearing loss she encountered from Meiners disease channeled her to early retirement. Following retirement from the hospital, she dedicated several years to working with Hospice, finding one-on-one bedside care possible and very rewarding. Adding to her passion for nursing, she was joyed by the fact that her mother Anita, sister Yvonne, and daughter Nicole were also nurses.

Cliff continued to work at Utah Power and Light until his retirement in 2002. Following Clifford’s retirement, Renee and he enjoyed traveling in their motor home and four-wheel trailer.

Renee and Clifford were sealed in the LDS Temple in 2005, and she found temple work and genealogy to be very fulfilling, spending endless hours at various temples in Utah providing service to God.

She was a beacon of love and light in the lives of all who knew her. Her heart held boundless compassion that she extended to everyone she encountered. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. Her dedication to their happiness was a testament to her character, creating a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in their hearts.

Renee passed away peacefully in her home in Liberty, Utah, on January 9, 2024, with her husband Cliff, son Paul, and daughter Nicole at her side.

She is survived by her husband Clifford, sons Shane and Paul, and daughter Nicole; grandsons Brandon, Jacob Crosthwait, Michael, and David Duran; as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Clifford’s children Annette, Kaye, Bobe, and Joel, along with 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, and her faithful dog Clyde.

Preceded in death by her parents Donald and Anita; brothers Andre, Dean, Roger, and Bruce; sisters Yvonne and Tamera; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and co-workers.
