Karen Melba Arnell Welch passed away July 9, 2018 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Karen was born December 27, 1940 to William DeLloyd Arnell and Melba Rich Pugmire Arnell in Montpelier, Idaho. She graduated 3rd in her class from Montpelier High School with 12 years Perfect Attendance. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from BYU. She served a 2-year mission in Paris, France. She worked for the Dept. of Business Education, and retired from Jordan School District in 2006.

She met and married Robert Dennis Welch Aug. 27, 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple. In addition to Denny’s two sons, Steve and John, they were blessed with three more children, Mike, Jeff and Susan. She enjoyed music, reading books, watching BYU football and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband of 47 years, her five children Steve (Marie) Welch, John Welch, Michael (Patricia) Welch, Jeff (Brandy) Welch and Susan Welch, her siblings Carolyn (Wayne) Tufts, Lonny (Mary Louise) Arnell, Linda Arnell, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing to be held Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6-8 p.m., and from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Mountain Shadows 7th LDS Ward Chapel at 7903 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah 84088. There will be a graveside service at the St. Charles cemetary at 3:00 PM on July 14, 2018.
