Janis Nielson (Thompson) - Class of 1954

BOULDER, Colo. - Janis Nielsen Thompson of Boulder died of heart failure Monday, August 2, 2004. Janis was born July 2, 1936, in Afton, Wyo. She was 68. 

She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954, and attended the University of Utah for two years.

She married Bruce Thompson from Laketown, Utah, in 1956. 

Janis worked as an executive secretary for the Department of Commerce in Boulder intermittently from 1966 to 1994.

"Janis was a beautiful, vivacious lady who cared deeply and unselfishly for her family. We shall miss her tremendous love, warmth and generosity." 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Ruth of Montpelier, a brother, Jay C., and a sister, Natalie Nielsen.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; sons, Keith and Charlie Thompson; daughters, Candace Thompson and Janette Purtell in Colorado; sisters, Christin Jensen of Fish Haven and Meriel Monical of Montpelier. 

Graveside services will be at the Laketown, Utah, cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2004.
