Glenn Schoper - Class of 1946

Dr. Glenn Whitman Schoper entered into eternal life on November 15, 2015 at the age of 87 years. He was currently residing in Delafield, Wisconsin with his wife, Ann, and two sons, Joe and David.

He was born on September 16, 1928 to George A. and Mildred G. Schoper in Montpelier, Idaho where he lived until graduating from Montpelier High School in 1946. He played football at the University of Idaho before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the Korean War from 1948-1952 where he spent time in a M.A.S.H. unit as a dental technician. After an honorable discharge, he married Elaine Lindsay on Dec. 26, 1952 and moved to Seattle, Washington to attend medical school at the University of Washington. He interned at the Mckay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah and moved to Montpelier, to begin his 42 year medical practice with his father-in-law, Rulon B. Lindsay. Four children were born to he and Elaine.

While in Montpelier, Glenn was active in EMT training and a member of the Bear Lake School Board for a number of years. In 1981, after receiving his Degree of Fellow in Family Practice from UCLA, Glenn moved to Phoenix, Arizona. and worked for CIGNA healthcare. While in Phoenix, he married Ann Bennett on January 16, 1988. Two sons were born to this union. They later moved to Eagle, Idaho and Delafield, Wisconsin.

Glenn enjoyed life by being active in the things he loved which included golfing, gardening, fishing, skiing, cooking, entertaining, traveling, and spending time with his family. He and his wife were great supporters of many college football teams and often traveled to attend games.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George & Mildred Schoper, his wife, Elaine, and three brothers, Morris, Greg, and Russell. He is survived by his wife, Ann, six children, Joe Schoper, David Schoper, Lynne (Paul) Etcheverry, Leslie (Brad) Tueller, Jeff (Jeannie) Schoper, and Leigh (Morgan) Herrington, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 21 with a memorial service at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church S38 W31602 Wern Way (Hwy 83 and Hwy D) in Genesee Depot.

A funeral service led by Deacon Scott Pearhill will be held on Friday, November 27, at 11:00 am at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Montpelier, Idaho preceded by visitation at 10:00 am at the church.

Graveside services will directly follow the service. Interment, under the direction of Schwab/Matthews Mortuary, will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Bear Lake Memorial Hospital in Montpelier, Idaho or to the University of Washington Medical School in Seattle, Washington in Dr. Glenn Schoper’s name will be appreciated.
