Delia Grayum was born in Montpelier, Idaho on November 10, 1938, to Fred W. and Ivy C. Teuscher Price. Delia was raised on the family dairy farm in Geneva, Idaho. There she learned the value of hard work and faith in Christ. She spoke lovingly about growing up on the farm with her 2 brothers and 4 sisters. Although they lived in a small home they learned to share and make do.
She attended school in the one room schoolhouse in Geneva. She loved her association with those who attended with her, some who still live in the area.
Delia was a social person and made many friends. She had a unique way to reach out to neighbors and people she interacted with. To this day many people speak about how they feel a special connection to her.
She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1957.
Delia married Larry D Humpherys on August 29, 1958. Delia and Larry had three children, Jamie D (1960), Sheryl Lynn (1962), and Ellen Marie (1964). After he graduated from Utah State University, they moved to Livermore, California in 1962.
Delia was not a helicopter mom but encouraged her children to make friends and play outside; most days until she called them for dinner.
Delia also was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings throughout her life including primary president and compassionate service leader. She loved reading the Come Follow Me lessons and attending the institute class in Montpelier. Her son remembers finding her many nights in her room with her scriptures and a manual spread out on her bed.
Delia married Bruce David Grayum on April 25, 1986, in Livermore, California. They both worked for AAA. She later worked for Hallmark and Bed Bath and Beyond.
Bruce and Delia lived an active life traveling to family in Oklahoma, California, Florida and Idaho. Delia loved and valued family reunions and looked forward to attending and hosting them throughout the years especially after moving back to Montpelier in 2004.
Delia was very detailed and kept detailed ledgers of her expenditures. She would track family and friend birthdates, anniversaries and special occasions. Bruce was such a great photographer; she would make customized cards using his photos.
Delia was also very determined and independent. After recovering from a hospitalization and staying at an assisted living facility, she was determined to show everyone she could take care of herself at home. With help from Brent & Wenda and especially Kathy Price who spent so much time helping with doctor visits and the day to day over the years, Delia spent a happy 6 weeks at home before she was hospitalized and then passed away on July 8, 2024, while in the Portneuf Hospital in Pocatello, Idaho.
Delia was preceded in death by her husband Bruce David Grayum (Jan 26, 2022) and is survived by her four sisters, Ethel Buhler, Minerva Ovard, Wenda Lewis (Brent), Sally Shorter (Dewayne Hale) and two brothers Merlin Price (Joy) and Cliff Price (Kathy).
