Carolyn Jenson (Hesson) - Class of 1954

Carolyn Renee (Jenson) Hesson (81) of Houston, TX passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was born on March 4, 1936 to Elmer C. Jenson and Gwenfread (Evans) Jenson in Montpelier, ID.

She earned a degree at the University of Utah in 1958 and then set out for Texas taking a position in the Junior Executive Training Program with Foleys Department Store in downtown Houston. She worked as a buyer in various departments of the store, contributed like all associates to the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade that the store sponsored, and then worked on the opening crew for the new Foley's in Sharpstown.

In 1960 she met Walter Hesson on the pool deck of their apartment on Bissonnet Dr. After a whirlwind courtship, he proposed in Paris Canyon, ID during his first trip to meet her parents. They were married at St. Paul's UMC in January of 1961.

Carolyn soon retired from her business career to settle down in the western suburbs of Houston to raise two rambunctious sons. She was a leader, organizer, & chauffer for her young family's church, scholastic, and sports endeavors. Her own athletic endeavors included walking, backpacking, and tennis. She continued to actively play league tennis until the age of 75.

Carolyn was a 50+ year member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her brother Ron Jenson and sister in law Cherry of Norfolk, VA as well as their children and grandchildren; sons Scott Edward of San Diego, CA; Paul Walter and daughter in law Karen Jones, and precious granddaughter Althea Love of Houston.

A Memorial Service and celebration of life will be held at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church on Saturday March 10 at 10 AM in the Friendship Court.
