Beth Wright (Reddington) - Class of 1949

Elizabeth Ann Wright Reddington, 83, of Boise, died on Friday, September 25, 2015 from complications of a stroke. She was born in Bennington, Idaho on February 14, 1932 to William Grant and Julia Elizabeth Crane Wright. She grew up on the family farm in Bennington, where she loved horses and raking all of the hay, learning the values of hard work and thrift, and spending quality time with her family. At the age of 15 she won the honor of being Queen of the Bear Lake County Rodeo. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1949 where she was active in FHA, chorus and was queen of her senior ball.

She enrolled at Idaho State College Secretarial Program in Pocatello, Idaho that fall, where she completed her training and met her sweetheart, Orville A. "Slim" Reddington. After graduation she was employed as an insurance underwriter at Bryan and Co., Inc., where she worked until she was married. She married Slim on July 31, 1952, in Salmon, Idaho. Their first child, Randy, was born while they lived in Salmon, after which they moved to Wendell, then Cambridge, and then to Bliss where Slim became the Superintendent of Schools. In 1962, they moved to Boise, bought their home on acreage on the outskirts of town. She remained in this house for the rest of her life.

In 1965 she was blessed with another son, Grant, and in 1969, a baby girl, Susan. Her life revolved around her family, being a homemaker and having nourishing meals on the table, at specific times, every day. She volunteered in her kids' schools and was involved in church activities, sports, music and friendships that never ended. She was a loving and kindhearted soul who loved serving others. At times, she was a bit stubborn, but maintained her loving attitude. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served many church positions throughout her life.

Survivors include her three children, Randy (Dawna) Reddington of Rupert, Grant (Maria) Reddington of Boise and Susan (Alan) Johnson of Cedar Hills, Utah. She had 12 grandchildren, Matt (Amelia) Reddington, Crystal (Danny) Miles, Heather (Kyle) Meyers, Elisa (Donovan) Birch, Caitlin (Scott) Thomas, Jennifer Reddington, Ashlyn Reddington, Evan (Sarah) Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Grace Johnson, Claire Johnson and Jack Johnson. She also has 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Winnie Mae Freeman of Boise, Idaho and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Reddington; parents; and brothers, Mike and Jerry Wright. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, doctors and caring staff at the St. Alphonsus Hospital who made her last few days so comfortable.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at the LDS Chapel located at 3555 S. Cole Rd., Boise. A viewing will be held from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Family will also greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah St., Boise. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Bennington Cemetery in Bennington, ID.

Dorthea Swensen (Kendall) (1949)

So sorry to read about the passing of Beth Wright Reddington..  Norinne Teuscher Kunz had notified me that she had a stroke and was not expected to live, but hadn't heard further. Thanks to Winnie Mae Wright for letting Norinne's sister, Doris know that much. Beth was a special lady--always classy in her dress and demeanor. Beth, Mary Jean Schmid, Eileen Stoddard and I all attended Idaho State College (now ISU) after graduation from MHS in 1949,  so had another year of good times together; That year, Beth met Orville "Slim" Reddington, and the rest is history, and Eileen met Hugh Stanton and they married soon as well.  We all went our separate ways after that.  We have also lost Eileen Stoddard Stanton in the last few years. Not many of us left from that graduating class, but I'm glad to have had all those associations.
