In Memory

Marlene Laughter (Failoni) - Class of 1955

Marlene (Laughter) Failoni, 85, returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Mom was born August 3, 1936, in Montpelier, Idaho to Wesley Edny Laughter and Ruby Alleman Laughter. She grew up in the small town of Montpelier, Idaho. She attended Montpelier High School and graduated in 1955.

Mom married her loving sweetheart, Joseph Louis Failoni on February 25, 1956 in Pocatello, Idaho. Mom and Dad spent 55 years together until Dad's passing in August 2011. They lived first in Montpelier, Idaho, later moving to Layton, Utah. Their first home was in Clearfield, Utah and finally Syracuse, Utah, where mom lived out her life.

Mom worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base.

Things Mom enjoyed doing were taking her daughters to all their rodeo events, going on family camping trips. She and Dad took many trips, cruises and bus trips. Mom enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines, Holiday Barbie's, spoons from various places and growing her beautiful Christmas cactuses. She embroidered and made covered photo albums. She loved sending cards for everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. Mom was so good at remembering all occasions.

Mom loved spending time with her family. Her grandkids and great grandkids were the joy of her life. Mom loved music. She loved listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and the Spoken Word each Sunday. Mom loved the old-time country music and the music show "Larry's Country Diner".

Mom belonged to the Silver Lake Ward in Syracuse with the presiding Bishop Bill Russell and so many, many wonderful people that came to visit her and loved her.

Mom is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Don) Hicken, Stansbury Park, Utah, and Tammy (Scott) Nye, Hooper, UT; seven grandchildren, Kristy Sloan, Jennifer Johnson, Jerame Nye, Jeffery Hicken, Greg Hicken, Stephanie Hall, Casey Nye; twelve great-grandchildren, Ambree Hall, Tayton Hall, Crew Nye, Kaladin Nye, Laramey Sloan, Braxton Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Dresden Johnson, Kaeleb Hicken, Zoey Hicken, Owen Johnson and Charlotte Hicken.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Louis Failoni; parents Wesley Edny Laughter and Ruby Alleman Laughter; brother Wesley Reed (Bernice) Laughter; and sister Louana Laughter (Tom) Granger.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at the Montpelier Idaho Cemetery. Per Mom's request, a family only viewing will be held at Lindquist's Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.

We would like to thank all of Mom's family, friends and neighbors for their love, support, time and caring over the years. Also, thanks to Inspiration Hospice for the service they rendered.

Mom, you are always in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute or Shriner's Hospital.
