Max Hayes - Class of 1954

Max A Hayes, 37, a native of Georgetown and former Montpelier resident, died June 23, 1973, at Phoenix, Arizona of burns received in a gasoline explosion at his home in Gilbert. Services were Friday in the Gilbert LDS Ward Chapel and burial in Mesa cemetery. Born in Georgetown, Idaho, February 21, 1936, he was the son of the late Boyden Hess and Pamela Louise Peterson Hayes of Georgetown. Mr. Hayes, a professor at Mesa Junior College, had lived at Gilbert the past 10 years. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1954, received a BA degree from BYU, Provo, and MA from the University of Arizona, Tucson. Surviving are his widow, seven children and two sisters, Mrs Audrey Nielson of Ovid and Mrs Jay C. (Lorraine) Allred of Soda Springs. He was buried in the City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
