Robert Merrill Crane was born August 12, 1935, the son of Merrill M. and Arvilla May Wixom Crane. He was a member of the class of 1954, however he did not graduate. He was in the United States Air Force for four years. He was a member of the LDS Church. He died Sunday, June 1, 1986, at Bear Lake Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.

He married Verdene Roberts on April 8, 1955. They spent most of his married life in Bennington, where he enjoyed working on his farm and in the electrical and instrumental departments at the phosphate plants in Soda Springs. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Douglas Robert, Kennon DeWayne of Bennington; Jeffery Bruce of Pocatello; two daughters, Mrs. Chad Nelson (Arvilla) of Montpeller, Mrs. Curtis Stucki (Jackie Lynn) of Pocatello; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Mohonri of Las Vegas; Jed of Bern, Ida., Steven Sheltis of Smithfield, Ut;, four sisters, Mrs. Warren Sorenson (Irene) of Georgetown, Maria Lyons, of Arvada, Colo., Mrs Ivan Williams (Scoobie) of Bennington, Cindy Taylor of Ocean City, MD. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, two brothers, Rusty and James. Funeral services were Wednesday in the Bennington ward chapel. Burial was in the Bennington Cemetery.
