Lois Ann Tueller (Bienz) - Class of 1953

Lois Ann Tueller Bienz, 80, passed away at her home in Bern, Idaho on Dec. 25, 2015, comforted by family members. She was born in Montpelier, Idaho on May 14, 1935 to Melvin Harold Tueller and Violet Bishoff. Fourteen days later, her family moved back to her grandfather Bishoff's ranch in Geneva, Idaho.

She attended grade school in Geneva, Idaho and high school in Montpelier, Idaho. She was accepted to and attended BYU in Provo, Utah. During her younger school years, she became an accomplished pianist, organist and tap dancer. Dancing and singing, Lois and her sister Charlene, entertained many people at events such as school and church programs, reunions and parties.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many positions. The one she loved the most was Church Organist for the Bern Ward during the 1980’s and1990’s. During this time, she also taught piano lessons to some of the local children.

She married Joseph Ray Bienz on July 2, 1957 in the Logan, Utah Temple. Ray, Lois and their four children lived in many places throughout Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Arizona before moving back to Montpelier, Idaho, and finally settling in Bern, Idaho in 1978. While living in Ephraim, Utah, Lois and Ray were involved in getting the first Manti Temple Pageant in Manti, Utah up and running.

In Montpelier, Lois worked as a secretary at the Title Company, as a teller at First National Bank, and worked for many years at Bear Lake High School, preparing and serving lunch to the kids, where she then retired. For many years, she also worked as an election poll inspector during election periods.

She loved music, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart.

She is survived by her husband Ray Bienz, three children, Rae Ann Chavez (David), Bern, Idaho, James Ray Bienz (Kara), Hughson, California, and Nancy Laura Bartschi (Larry), Bern, Idaho, two sisters, Charlene Stone, Fairfield, California and Ruth Tabor, Las Vegas, Nevada, one brother, Gordon Tueller, Afton, Wyoming, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, and oldest son, David Tueller Bienz and grandson, Jerry D. Bienz.

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 from p.m. at Schwab-Matthews Mortuary.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Bern Ward Chapel in Bern, Idaho.

Interment will follow in the Bern Cemetery.
