Velda Dayton (Watson) - Class of 1941

She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1941.  She married Fay Smith Derricott February 24, 1944.  She died September 25, 1994 in Gooding, Idaho and was buried in the Dingle Cemetery.

Velda Dayton Watson, 70, Boise, died Sept. 25, 1994, in a Gooding hospital, from injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born Dec. 31, 1923, to Cyril George and Myrtle Jane Toomer Dayton in Dingle, where she grew up. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1941. She Married Fay S. Derricot and was later divorced. She moved to Boise in 1951, and worked at the Children's Center and the Crippled Children's Service. She married Robert W. "Bob" Watson Sept. 17, 1976. She was working for Commercial Newspaper Service in Meridian at the time of her death. Velda was a charter member and first president of the Centennial Charter Chapter of the American Business Women of America (ABWA). She helped organize and was the first president of the B.P.O. DOES, Boise Drove #249, was DOE of the year in 1984, and was currently Idaho-Utah District president for 1994. She was also a member of the Elketts, Lady Elks, Eagles Auxiliary, and was a past Lady Elk of the Year 1990-91 Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Brent D and Evelynne Derricott of Tooele and sisters and brothers-in-law.
