In Memory

McKay Lindsay - Class of 1945

McKay Seymour Lindsay, 75, formerly of Dingle, now of Preston, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2002, in Logan, Utah, of cancer. He was born in Dingle, Idaho, on Jan. 3, 1927, to Seymour Jesse and Evelyn Howell Lindsay. He attended schools in Dingle and helped on the family farm; he especially enjoyed working with animals. He raised Black Angus for many years, owning two ranches in the Bear Lake Valley.

After serving in the Navy during World War II, he met and married Helen Nye on Aug. 28, 1946. They were blessed with six children, Robert, Merlin, Karen, Donovan, Sheila and Brenda May. Helen passed away June 19, 1968, after a short battle with cancer. He then married Twilla Kulicke, Oct. 2, 1968. She brought to this union five children, Keven, Allen, Keith, Merlin and LaNita. McKay and Twilla joined their two families and loved and raised nine wonderful children together as one family.

McKay was a wonderful husband and father and was always a hard worker. He owned and operated many rock quarries. He quarried, shaped the stone and hauled it to Island Park, Rexburg, Idaho Falls, Utah State in Logan, Montpelier Stake Center and the LDS church in Dingle.

He also drew the blueprints for the family home in Dingle, with the beautiful stone from the quarry. He then built most of the home himself, with help from his young sons. For 36 and 1/2 years, he hauled milk from Idaho to Wyoming and Utah.

He was well known and loved by the people, in part because of his love for people. He was known as the "Visiting Milk Man."

After retiring from the milk business, he and Twilla spent 14 winters traveling south, mainly to Yuma, Ariz. In the summers, while they were back in Dingle, McKay was employed by Bear Lake County Weed Control.

He was active in the LDS church. He received his Master "M" Men Pin and served as president and counselor in the Elders Quorum and the Young Men's Program. He served in the Dingle Ward Bishopric under three different bishops for a total of 14 years. He also served as the ward financial clerk for several years. At the time of his death he was a high priest.

In October 2001, he and Twilla moved to Preston, Idaho, to be closer to his doctors in Logan. He quickly became acquainted with his new neighbors and they loved to visit with him.

McKay is survived by his wife Twilla of Preston and his four children, Merlin (Karen) Lindsay of Menden, Utah, Karen (Keven) Kulicke of Montpelier, Idaho, Donovan (Kristene) Lindsay of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sheila Lindsay of Ada, Okla. He is also survived by his five stepchildren he raised as his own, Keven (Karen) Kulicke of Montpelier, Allen (Lynn) Kulicke of Bountiful, Utah, Keith Kulicke of Montpelier,, Merlin (Melissa) Kulicke of Pocatello, and LaNita (Kim) Steely of Montpelier.

He also has 29 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a brother, Laurel (Marlene) Lindsay of Montpelier. His parents, a son, Robert, and an infant daughter, Brenda May, preceded him in death. McKay will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a very kind and loving man.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m. in the Dingle LDS Chapel. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 and on Wednesday at the church in Dingle from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Dingle Cemetery.
