Mary Yvonne Jenson (Spencer) - Class of 1944

Mary Yvonne Jenson Spencer, 79 of East Layton, died at her home August 30, 2005.

She was born on the Crane Ranch in Bennington, Idaho, October 14, 1925. She was the beloved wife of Ronald Lloyd Spencer, whom she married June 16, 1947. Married fifty-two years, in the Logan Temple, they will now be reunited. She was a proud mother of four accomplished and educated children; Mary Florence
Spencer, Layton; Bennion Lloyd (Malinda) Spencer, Riverton; Robert Ronald (Ida) Spencer, Plain City; and Mark Jenson (Jeanette) Spencer, Layton.

She was a retired registered nurse and served in the U.S. Navy Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II, after having graduated from St. Marks Hospital School of Nursing and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She gave of her services and time in many LDS Church positions, including Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Parent Teacher Association, Red Cross, 4-H Leadership and community safety programs. She donated hours in the Polio Prevention Programs. She organized the Ladies Cultural Arts Club in Layton. Yvonne and her beloved husband traveled extensively during his retirement, especially enjoying their many friends on the Central Coast of California. They spend their winters in Morro Bay and Pismo Beach, California. 

Her greatest pride was the heights of educational achievement and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren as teachers and university instructors, authoring books and television productions. She loved oil painting and writing. She leaves to her family an extraordinary example of love, compassion, honesty, integrity, and service. 

She will be missed by her beloved family of four children, 12 grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren, and will now join her beloved husband.
