Mae Jensen (Davis) - Class of 1938

On a beautiful October 15th morning, Mae J. Davis, our wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Friend passed away. Lavenia Mae Jensen Davis was born May 2nd, 1921 in Montpelier, Idaho to Jacob C. and Vinnie Humpherys Jensen. She attended schools in Montpelier, College at Utah State University in Logan, Utah and Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education. Mae taught Elementary School in Tooele, Utah, later moving to Fillmore, Utah where she continued her teaching career and also where she met her future husband, James Clive Davis. Clive and Mae were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 9, 1948. They built a home in Fillmore, residing there until 1953 when they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. There they raised their four children and truly enjoyed their life together. Clive preceded her in death, April 19, 1983. Mae was a member of the LDS church and held many positions; Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Bishop's Wife and also volunteered as a Guide on Temple Square. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and was a member of the Parley's 2nd LDS Ward Choir for many years. She always gave unconditional love to her neighbors, friends and family and her example, positive attitude, quick wit and ever-present smile will never be forgotten. Mae is survived by a son, James R. Davis, (Tempe, Arizona), daughters, Susan D. MacFarlane (David R.), Lorie Davis (Larry Moline), (Salt Lake City), Jan D. Bowyer (Mark), (Newark, California); six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brothers Forrest Jensen, (Denver, Colo.), David Jensen (Montpelier, Idaho) and many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who meant so much to Mae. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Grant, Earl and Louis, and sister Zula. Mae and her family would like to especially mention and thank the wonderful employees and friends at Care Source Hospice and Highland Cove Retirement for their compassion and kindness to her. Friends may gather Tuesday, October 19th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. Funeral Services will be Wednesday
