In Memory

Kurtis Hartley - Class of 1975

Kurtis Frank Hartley was born on October 23, 1956 and left to join our heavenly father on September 14, 2008 at the age of 51.

Kurt was born in Soda Springs, Idaho to Glen and Dorothy Bartschi Hartley. He was the youngest of three children that included two sisters. Oldest is Shannah Hartley Twiss(Kent) of Georgetown, Idaho and Quartsite, Arizona and Gloria Hartley Bacon(Jim) of Park City, Utah. He lived most of his life in Georgetown, Idaho. There he attended school at Georgetown Elementary, Middle School in Paris, Idaho, up to Bear Lake High School in Montpelier, Idaho. During school he played sports such as basketball and football. He even had he challenge to try bull riding. He graduated in 1975. Right out of high school he started his career at Monsanto in Soda Springs, Idaho as a heavy equipment operator. He worked a good 27 years. But, he later went on disability due to an old injury to his shoulder when he was kicked by a horse.

On September 27, 1975, He married Janiece Hodges of Laketown, Utah. They made their home in Georgetown, Idaho. Together they had three children; Bryan Frank, Justin Ross, and Alisha Lyn(Matt Keetch). He had his love for the horses that he had bought for our family. Also, we had many pets that included dogs, cats, rabbits, pigeons, sheep, cows, and can't forget that annoying rooster Justin won at the Paris Rodeo. He had is love for animals. Later, Janiece and him divorced and he remarried Cheryl Nate of Montpelier, Idaho on May 4, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The last 6 years Kurt had been traveling to Mesquite, Nevada for the winter months. That way he was closer to his parents and he wanted to be where it was warm. Can't blame him there. During the summer months he would come back to Montpelier to be closer to his kids and grandkids. During these years he made his home a 5th wheel trailer. What is better then a home on wheels.

Kurt's greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was always doing something for someone else. He always put others before himself. He definately loved spending time with his 5 grandkids that he loved very much. They are Kayden, Dylan, Taylor, Miya, and Kynlie.

Throughout Kurt's life he had the joy of spending most of his time in the outdoors. Whether it was hunting, camping, fishing, snowmobiling, shooting his guns, or just going for a drive.

He had is love for guns. That was also how he grew up. He was always buying a gun or trading an old one for something else that he wanted. And he sure stocked up on his ammo. He was always going somewhere to shoot at least one of his guns almost everyday to make sure they were sighted in or kill a skunk. Not only that it was just because that was what he loved to do.

He sure was a huge Nascar fan for many years. He was always ready to watch the race on Sunday. And boy did he ever get worked up a lot over some of those races. He also had the opportunity to be able to enjoy some races in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This year was going to be his first time in 6 years that he was going to have his home in Montpelier, Idaho. He was really excited to have a home that had space and definately a bath tub.:) I think he finally got tired of being cramped in that 5th wheel for so long that he needed a change. He also said that he did not want to spend any more time away from his grandkids.

Kurtis Frank Hartley will be greatly missed but always alive in our hearts. We Love You And Miss You!
