Harry Owens - Class of 1927

Harry (Billy) S. Owens, 45, died suddenly at his home January 22, 1955.  Born in Pocatello March 18, 1910, he was reared in Montpelier where he graduated from high school in 1927 receiving his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Idaho where he earned membership in Sigma Tau and Sigma Xi.  He received his PhD in chemistry at Columbia University.  He taught chemistry at the University of Idaho for seven years and transferred to the regional office of the US Department of Agriculture in Albany, California where he was employed as a research chemist for the past 14 years.  He is survived by his wife, Jean Owens, his father and his step-mother.  Funeral services were held in Berkeley, California.
