Shirley Jacobsen (Nate) - Class of 1954

Shirley Jacobsen Nate, 25, wife of Lynn F. Nate, died suddenly of a heart attack at her home Thursday morning, November 29, 1962.  Mrs. Nate, a life long resident of Montpelier and mother of three children was the daughter of Cowley Jacobsen and the late Ethel Draney Jacobsen. She was born April 16, 1936 in Montpelier. Mrs. Nate attended Montpelier schools and she was an active member of the LDS Church. She served first as counselor and later as president of the Young Womens Mutual Improvement Association, taught in the Primary, and was teacher in the Relief Society.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Lonney, 6; two daughters, Denise Marie, 4, and Din Nette, nine months; father and stepmother, Cowley and Eleanor Jacobsen of Montpelier; and six brothers, Marcel C. Jacobsen of St. George, Utah, Dr. Gene S. Jacobsen of Logan, now in Ethiopia, Darrell D. Jacobsen of McCammon, Loraine F. Jacobsen and Forrest D. Jacobsen, both of Montpelier, and Larry J. Jacobsen of Logan; a step-sister, Mr. Steve (Delores) Golightly of Salt Lake and step-brother, Vern J. Harper of Boise.

Funeral services for Shirley Jacobsen Nate were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, In the Montpelier LDS Third•Fifth Ward Chapel with Bishop Philip L. HuIme of the Fifth Ward conducting. Following the invocation by Clarence Swensen, Mrs. Walter Hunzeker sang "In The Garden" with Mrs. Roy Jacobson, accompanist. Remarks were given by Bishop Hulme, and Lewis Munk and Frank Hirschi were speakers. Other vocal selections were a solo, "Always", by Mrs. Waldo Andersen, accompanied by Mrs. Hulme, and "Going Horne", by a trio, Mrs. Howard W. Tolley, Mrs. Eugene W. Wilcox and Mrs. Dean Larsen. Lester Gardner gave the benediction. The prayer at the mortuary was offered by Vern Hayes. Interment was in the Montpelier cemetery and President S. Reed Dayton gave tha dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Marcel C. Jacobsen, Darrell D. Jacobsen, Loraine F. Jacobsen, Forrest D. Jacobsen, Larry Jacobsen and Farrell Nate. Matthews Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
