Phil Perkins - Class of 1936

Phil Raymond Perkins, 58, died May 12, 1977 at his home of a heart attack.  He was born June 30, 1918 in Montpelier to W. Louis and Nellie Pearch Perkins.  He married Betty Collipriest on January 14, 1941 in Salt Lake City.  He was a member of the LDS Church.  He worked for the postal service for nearly 30 years and was appointed postmaster for Montpelier in 1967.  Perkins was a veteran of World War II and had been active in the American Legion.  At the time of his death he was president of the Idaho chapter of the National Association of Postmasters.  He graduated from Montpelier High School and also attended Utah State University.  He was also graduated from the barber college in Salt Lake City.  Survivors include his wife, two sons, two daughters and two grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at the Montpelier Stake Center.  Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
