William Danks - Class of 1942

William J. Danks, 48, died of cancer September 10 at Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He was born July 3, 1924 at McCammon, the son of the late William R. Danks and Zella Romero Danks.  He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1942.  On November 14, 1942 he entered the US Navy where he attended Texas A&M College for 18 weeks studying to be a radioman.  From there he went To Norfolk, Virginia and he was sent to Visques, Puerto Rico and eventually made every island in the Carribean.  On February 20, 1946 he received an Honorable Discharge.  He was a licensed electrician and an accountant .  At the time of his death he was an electrician at Phelps-Dodge at Silver City, New Mexico.  Survivors include his wife, one son and two daughters.  Funeral services were held in the Matthews Mortuary Chapel.
