Opel Twiss - Class of 1943

Opel Keaton Twiss, 65, North Logan, died at his home of heart failure November 17.  He was born July 12, 1924 to Roy Harold and Nettie Francis Twiss.  He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1943.  He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II as a junior engineer.  He married Arvilla Weaver of Bennington in January 1947.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.  He was employed from 1951 to October 1960 at Monsanto Chemical Co. in Soda Springs, Idaho as heavy equipment supervisor.  He moved to Arizona where he resided for 35 years and established his own business.  He then moved to North Logan in 1965.  He was a member of the LDS Church serving as a high priest in the North Logan First Ward at the time of his death.  He served three years as a temple officiator in the Mesa, Arizona temple and two  and one half years in the Logan LDS temple.  He is survived by his wife, six children and nine grandchildren.  Services were held in the North Logan First Ward Chapel.  Burial was in the Montpelier Cemetery.
